Is there a secret shadow government controlling all of our lives from behind a black curtain of secrets and lies? Of course there is and today Rather Be Dead invites resident Conspiracy Theorist Rich Gelardi to the studio to enlighten us. We start out on 9/11 and move onto the financial bail out, big foot, aliens, and even ghosts. What isn’t a conspiracy? Join us for a fun and interesting debate as we follow the money down the rabbit hole and into a stealth helicopter.
Have you ever watched professional wrestling? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to jump off the top rope, or get hit with a chair, or how about raising the championship belt over your head. Well some people don’t have time to wait to become a star of WEE or WCW so they start their own federation in their backyard. Today we talk to Mike “Fatty” Ohlau a former wrestler and co-founder of the Underground Wrestling Alliance (UWA). Today we ask all about starting the federation and how they decided who would win, the storylines for their characters, and the injuries he inflected on himself and his “friends”. We packed a lot of punch into this episode. More pictures in the read more section.
This week Rather Be Dead is trying something new. We invited our friend Scott back to talk about some articles we found on Reddit. We dive into the Starbucks red cup controversy before steering into the weird world of hypnotist school principals, cops talking about blow-jobs, adults going back to kindergarten, a man with night vision, and a Brooklyn pageant where size does matter. Join us won’t you as we travel down the rabbit hole of Reddit. Link to all the articles we discussed are provided in the read more section.
Rather Be Dead is holding a contest for our listeners to redesign our logo. Do you think you have the artistic talents to make our logo look better than this? (How hard can it be!) Redesign the Rather Be Dead logo and submit it to firstname.lastname@example.org. For submissions to be considered it must be 1400 x 1400 pixels; we will review all the submissions and select our favorite one. The winner will be mentioned on our web site, podcast and Twitter feed. We are looking forward to seeing what our creative audience has to offer. Deadline for submissions is December 31, 2015. We want to start the New Year with a new logo! Have fun and thanks for listening.
Today we do another of our recurring segments Classic or Crap. Rich selected the movie this time and he choose one of his favorite movies Harold and Kumar go to White Castle. Mike was not hopeful for this low brow comedy to be anything other than dick and fart jokes. Does this stoner road trip movie hold up or does even Rich have to admit he would rather be dead than watch this? Continue reading “Classic or Crap – Harold and Kumar go to White Castle”
It’s time for Halloween in November. This week Rich and Mike talk about Trick or Treating and wearing cheat costumes as kids. Why on one day a year you can want to have sex with cats and pumpkins and which monsters are considered sexy or not. We pick the sexiest and it’s not the one your thinking of.
Today Rather Be Dead tries a new segment call Profiles in Nerd Courage. Is playing Street Fighter professionally a waste of time? Hear it first hand from grimxd our resident professional gamer and see if playing tournaments is a good use of your time or if you would Rather Be Dead than caught playing against a fat guy in a Sailor Moon Outfit.
Welcome to the show. Rather Be Dead would like to thank Mike Knapp the host of The man Event on WIOX Catskills Community radio Sundays at 6pm for having Rather Be Dead on as guest hosts this week. You can listen live here http://wioxradio.org/.
That is why we are posting this extrasode for anyone who wanted to check us out after hearing us on the radio.
This week Mike and Rich try out a new segment called Reddit Round-Up where we take a random sub reddit and see how deep the rabbit hole goes. This week they find themselves lost in r/MEOW_IRL a safe space for cats to post about their feelings. Then Scott joins us for a discussion of Renaissance Fairs and our love/hate relationship with them.
This week we revisit Satanism by reading the actual Satanic Bible. Do the guys come around this time or do they still think the whole thing is just a bunch of weirdos trying to get laid?
